About oneplustwomakesthree2017

I decided to start my blog so I could use it as a personal diary, I want to capture and share my memories and one day my not so little ones will have something to look back on. I am 36 years old and i'm mum to 3 little ones, Alfie is 7, Charlie is 4 and Daisy is 8 months old. I work part time 3 days a week and love having the happy medium of working and being at home with my little ones. I love entering competitions in my spare time and have had a lot of success with winning, I've been entering competitions for over 10 years and it's become my passion. I also love cross stitch when I find the time, I find it's quite a relaxing hobby to have and it's great to do when you just want to unwind.

Summer Wins 2019

It’s been a few months since my last post so thought it was time to do a new blog post with all the lovely wins I’ve had over the last few months.

I think I need to go right back to March, I won a beautiful wooden kitchen from Kiddistyle on Instagram, I brought my daughter Daisy a wooden kitchen for Christmas and felt like I couldn’t justify keeping this one even though it was beautiful. I gifted this to my niece Violet who is the same age as Daisy and she loves it.

I had a lovely winning message on Twitter from Bizzie Baby UK informing me I’d won the BabyHub Sleep space in ruby red which they dispatched to me by courier.

My final wins for this August are a couple of items I’ve put away for Christmas for Daisy, a Hatchimal Pixie which I won on Instagram from love_ro-ra and a mystery package which contained a Scruff a Luvs limited edition blossom bunny which I have no idea where it came from, I’m guessing it was from a girl magazine because it was addressed to Daisy.

I had a Twitter win from Taste inc, a bit of a odd prize but I won some chicken fillets, they kindly sent me some vouchers, I was a bit worried they were going to send me chicken through the post! lol.

I also had a Twitter win from Now music, I’ve won 2 music albums, Now that’s what I call music 3, Now that’s what I call music 103 and a 6 month subscription to the Now music app.

My final win was 2 cinema tickets for Cineworld which were from an instant win with J20, i have my lovely comping friends on Instagram to thank for this one which they shared in our comping group, thanks guys my boys are going to be so excited, now we just need to decide on which movie we’re going to watch.

That’s all for now, can’t wait to see what I win over the Autumn months in the run up to Christmas.

February Prize Wins

February has been a really good month for me, my first win of the new month was a bit of a surprise, it was the first Saturday of February and on that morning the postman delivered me a big gold envelope through my letter box, when I first opened it I thought it was just a marketing mailer in the form of a cardboard cheque but after closer inspection it was actually a postcode lottery win of £1000. I can’t tell you how much this means to me and I know it wasn’t a competition win as such but I thought I would put it in my February blog just so I can look back on this one day.  My son Alfie is already mentally spending my winnings for his upcoming birthday in April, all I can say is that he’s got expensive taste!

Lottery

I’ve been quite lucky throughout February and am truly grateful for even the small prizes, this month I was super lucky and won cinema tickets twice which I’ve never ever won before.

Apparently in the UK we celebrate National Popcorn Day, who even knew this was a thing, I was lucky to win a selection of Popcorn goodies from Butterkist on their Instagram competition along with a £50 Odeon cinema voucher, this came just in time for the half term holidays. My boys were well and truly spoilt with a trip to the cinema to watch the new Lego movie 2 and to also watch The boy who would be king.

Odeon

I’ve just recently won another cinema gift card on Twitter in the last couple of days from Hyper Recruitment, they messaged me to inform me I’d won their competition and had won a £20 Cineworld voucher, I am over the moon and will save this for the next half term holidays. It’s so lovely to treat the kids to the cinema but as a family of 5 it does get expensive and I’m truly grateful for this wonderful hobby and the wonderful prizes it brings.

Some of my other prizes throughout February are listed below

Instagram Valentines Competition – Online Star Register – I won a star which I got to choose and name and it is now officially registered on the official star register, I’m not going to go into too much detail and tell you the name yet, I’m keeping this one a secret and am gifting it to my husband for his birthday in April, now that really is a fab prize!

Instagram – Bottle of Canadian Maple Syrup from Pure Maple Syrup

Twitter – Lavera Official – Lavera tinted moisturising cream and lipstick

Lavera

Twitter – 4 Tickets to the Cheltenham Festival which starts in March – now this really is a fab prize for my husband, he absolutely loves his horse racing.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a lucky March with Pancake day and World Book day coming up. I wish you all lots of luck too.

Competition Wins – Autumn/Winter

This blog post is extremely overdue, as you can see by the title, this blog post is a combination of competition wins from September 2018 on wards right up until January 2019. I have no excuses really other than my normal excuse and that’s family life, there never seems to be enough hours in the day juggling work, home life & 3 kids.

To shorten down my blog post I’m just going to list what I’ve won and when/how I won it.

A children’s book from DK Books which was an online entry

Jan 13

Chocolate Advent calendar worth £9.95 from Heavenly Chocolate on Facebook

Jan 14

Katy Sue Christmas Moulds won on Facebook with Party Animal Online Sugar Crafts

2 bags of coffee won on Instagram with mevagisseycoffee

A blush pink and rose gold watch and bracelet set from Damart – this was an advent competition on Facebook. I absolutely love the watch and strangely enough I had put a blush pink watch on my Christmas list, talk about fate!

Jan 7

A Kelloggs Elf on the shelf breakfast party pack – won inside our Rice Krispies!

January 2019

Pull my finger game – this one just turned up out of the blue and I have no idea where this one came from, my boys love this game, they just love how the monkey’s butt inflates and farts, just up their street!

£10 online voucher with Cafepod – won on Facebook

£600 worth of treatments with thestudioxh1 on Instagram, be warned when enter competitions, don’t get carried away and enter any old random ones because this is what happens if you do. My and my good friend Patricia (my comping buddy) both won this, this was a prize for you and your friend but neither of us checked the location of the salon and it turned out to be miles away. To be honest, I really wouldn’t have gone through with this prize, I’m not brave enough to try Micropigmentation lip blush, sounds a bit scary!

Jan 1

2 boxes of hair dye from a Facebook competition with Colour Freedom, I think someone secretly heard my inner thoughts, just lately the grey hairs have been sneaking through and I kept saying to myself that I really must dye my hair and blow me I go and win some! Got to be some kind of Law of Attraction thing going on here!

A Zimplikids crazy bundle on Instagram – this was quite exciting to win, my husband unfortunately doesn’t share my excitement. I won an amazing bundle of Gellibaff products and slime products. I wasn’t expecting the bundle to be so big, we have 8 of their products in total. I’ve not told the boys and am struggling to keep my excitement to  myself, I’ve put a few packs away for Alfie’s birthday coming up in April, I want to keep a few for summer which will be great to have out in the garden and depending on the shelf life of these products I would really like to hold some back for Christmas.

Zimplikids.png

My final win to end the month was from Butterkist popcorn on Instagram and was from their National popcorn day competition, we won a fantastic prize consisting of a £50 Odeon voucher and a box of tasty Butterkist popcorn for all the family to enjoy.

February wins have already started coming including a win from the Postcode Lottery which I will fill you in on next month.

Thanks for reading and I hope this blog post has given you all some motivation to keep going.

Summer wins of 2018

It’s been a few months since my last update which was April, May was quiet and I only won 1 item so I decided it wasn’t worth writing a blog post, fast forward a few months and summer is coming to a close. I’m combining all my wins from May through to August in this one blog post.

After much chasing I finally received my signed Manchester United football shirt from Epson which I won a few months ago on Instagram, I’m over the moon with this prize.

In May I won a cute little gardening set for my little ones which was won on Facebook with Spear & Jackson UK.

August 9

June was more fruitful and I had a few wins throughout the month, on Instagram I won a personalized cake topper which I’ve had personalized for my Daughter Daisy’s 2nd birthday which I’ve put away until December, this was won through The Little Letter Studio, please go check them out on Instagram, they do some beautiful creative cake toppers.

A11

My next win was from a promotion that was run by Nestle and I spotted the instant win competition on my KitKat wrapper and also nabbed my father in law’s wrapper too, people must think I’m bonkers! This promotion was a code that you had to enter online and I bagged myself a Now TV Kids 1 month pass and a Now TV movie 1 month pass.

On the 13th of June I received a message on Twitter from Now informing me I’d won their Freebie Friday competition and had won 2 CD’s – Now That’s What I Call Dad Rock & Now That’s What I Call Jazz.

A lovely cross stitch turned up in the post a few days later which was from an online competition with The World of Cross Stitching Magazine, I’ve put this away to start in Autumn, I already have a couple on the go which I’m trying to finish and can’t wait to get started on this one.

A10

On the 19th June I triumphed and won the Freebie Friday competition with Jazz Apples, I don’t know why but I enter this one every week and it’s not like I really want the prize either, I guess that competitive side of me rears its ugly head, I guess I just wanted to win. My hubby loves me! Another mismatched mug for the cupboard! Lol.

My final win for June wasn’t from a competition entry as such, it was a welcome win of £10 from the Postcode lottery, you know what they say, “You’ve got to be in it to win it” I’m going to now sit and wait patiently for my jackpot win, I’m just biding my time!

July was quite a good month too, my first win for July was a scented candle from a win on Facebook with Mystic Moments. A few days later a win came from Facebook from Lypsyl which was a lovely bundle of goodies which was a lovely water bottle, a selection of Lypsyl products and a weeks supply of Charnos Hosiery.

July the 8th brought a lovely win on Facebook from Sponge Cakes Ltd, in the post I received a chocolate sponge cake for 8 people, which was beautiful and so tasty, I was so impressed with the presentation, it even came with a little congratulations card and napkins! I will definitely look this company up again in the near future to send a cake as a gift, such a lovely idea and different.

My final 2 wins for July were 2 Mascaras, one for me and one for a friend on Facebook with Dream Weave mascara and a win from Girl Talk magazine which was perfect timing for the start of the summer holidays – an art pad and 3 tins of art crayons.

August saw the start of the Carabao £1 million giveaway, I tried to stay away from this one as it’s not really a product I’d normally buy or consume but ended up getting swept along with all the excitement, who doesn’t love the excitement of an instant win? So far I’ve managed to bag myself x 3 £5 wins and 1 x £10 win, unfortunately the drink ends up down the sink or toilet.

It took me a while to track down the energy drink and 6 shops later finally spotted it in my Sainsburys local in my village. The cans are reduced at the moment and are currently £1 each. I treat it as though I’m buying a scratch card and try not to get too carried away.

My final win for August was an unexpected packet in the post with a Marcella dvd box set of series 1 & 2. Unfortunately there was no letter or compliment slip so I’m not really sure where this one came from.

August 1

I guess you could say that August was a bit of a flop but I put that down to the school holidays and having to work and juggle 3 children. I will definitely be upping my game for September so I can start stock piling for Christmas. Only 110 days to go!

Thank you popping along and having a read

16 Month Daisy Update

Only two more months until my princess is 1 and a half years old!!! I still can’t believe she is 1 never mind nearly 1 and a half. Today as I write this Daisy is 16 months and 2 weeks old and I can’t believe she’s getting closer to the 18 month mark. Last weekend which was the bank holiday weekend for us (5th May 2018) was the first weekend of Daisy fully walking, she’s finally reached the wonderful milestone of walking.

May7

We’ve finally been able to get Daisy’s feet measured and brought her first pair of Clark’s shoes and a great time to buy them too with a 50% off sale, now that’s what you call a result! Daisy is a size 3.5 wide and simply adores her new pink patent shoes, I never thought I would ever be buying little girls shoes! Every morning Daisy goes to get her shoes and wants to put them on, even when she’s still in her pyjamas, she absolutely loves them and never wants to take them off.

May14

This month has definitely been the month of tantrums … As she’s growing up, she suddenly seems to think she’s old enough/big enough to make every decision herself and to do whatever it is she wants. It’s been challenging but it’s also been really great seeing Daisy start to develop in to her own person! She’s definitely a head strong little miss.

She also seems obsessed with sitting on me, next to me, cuddling me and just generally touching me. Which to be honest I am loving but it’s hard to get things done. I know she won’t be small for long though so I’m enjoying the cuddles while I can. Saying that she does still play on her own very well and is normally less grumpy when I’m out of the room.

Daisy’s still sleeping through the night and started doing this when we stopped breastfeeding at 13 months, she goes to bed between 6.30-7.00pm and wakes around 6.45am. I pop her into her sleeping bag and lay her down with Ewan the sheep turned on and she’s got her favorite comforter too which she won’t sleep without and then I leave the room, Daisy’s so good at settling herself. We’ve only had a few occasions where Daisy’s been unsettled in the night and that was about a month ago when she was teething again, two more teeth have popped through at the bottom on each side, I’ve tried counting Daisy’s teeth and can roughly count around 16 in total.

Daisy’s eating’s improved a lot since Christmas, I think over December she was off her food quite a bit due to teething. Daisy loves Weetabix with warm milk for breakfast and always starts and ends her day with a bottle of warm full fat cows milk, she can now say Bot Bot. Some of Daisy’s favourite foods are sandwiches with cheese, jam or Philadelphia soft cheese, she loves quavers, yogurts, strawberries, grapes, raisins, carrots, peas, chocolate and chips.

Daisy’s vocabulary is coming on really well, a few of the words she can say at the moment are mama, dadda, hi, bye, cat (makes really cute meow noises), car, Peppa, bot bot, row row row, and Gaga (yes this was from Lady Gaga being on the tv one day). She’s also got her own little babble which is really cute.

Daisy’s down to 1 nap a day and naps in the morning around 11am, she then powers through until bed time. Daisy loves pushing her little dolls pushchair around the kitchen, now that she’s discovered walking this is her favorite thing to do, she just does lap after lap and never seems to get tired or bored of it, she loves putting her favorite teddy in the pushchair too, I think this certainly tires her out for bedtime.

Here’s Daisy’s 16 month update and what she’s achieved:

  • We had our first trip to the shops now that Daisy can walk and she moaned until I let her out of her pushchair, she walked the whole way around Savers the shop independently.
  • She’s such a chatter box babbling away although her vocab is pretty limited
  • She loves dancing to music, definitely takes after her dad!
  • She’s learnt that food she doesn’t want goes in the bin and likes to try to put it in the bin herself
  • Daisy loves to do the actions to row row row your boat and round and round the garden
  • She claps when she thinks she’s done something good and always looks so proud
  • Says bot bot when she wants milk
  • Gives cuddles to her dolls and gives them kisses, she’s just so adorable. She also likes to feed them their bottles
  • She can now climb on all our sofas and the outside patio chairs, loves to stand up on them and frighten the life out of you
  • She regularly pinches your food (but refuses to eat her own)
  • We’ve tried headbands and hair clips which stay in for a whole 1 minute
  • Loves rocking her pink Daisy duck sunglasses when out and about, she thinks she looks cool like her dad
  • Likes to go up to Felix our cat and say “Meow”
  • Said the word “Asda” when Asda arrived to deliver our shopping
  • Loves the park and the swings
  • She’s a little copy cat now!
  • Every Tuesday we go to toddler group, Daisy doesn’t mix with the other children yet but that will come in time.
  • Loves to pinch your mobile phone or the boys tablets when you’re not looking
  • Loves playing with Happy Land and Playmobil

May13th

That’s it for Daisy’s 16 month update, thanks for reading xxx

April Competition Wins 2018

April has been the fastest month ever, it came and went in a flash, I think it went so quick because there was just so much going on in April, nearly every week of April there was a family birthday, I also had a funeral and a wedding, such a crazy month, I’m surprised I had any time for comping. Most of my wins seem to have come in at the end of April and all came just in time for me writing my April blog post, I’m pleased I get to write something this month.

My first win came on the 12th April and came by email, I’m not really sure if you count this as a win but it’s a very clever way for promoters to promote their products, I came runner-up in an Instagram competition and received a 50% off code for any print off their website with free delivery. I had a browse on their website just out of curiosity and did see a really nice print for my daughter Daisy. I don’t think I would have paid the full price but was happy with 50% off.

On the 14th April my lovely friend Patricia who I met through Lucky Learners on Facebook sent me a message about the Mcvitites text to win competition, I thought I would give it a go and won myself cinema tickets twice. I love to share competitions too so told all my family to give it a try and my sister managed to win herself a family day out and has just recently received her buy a gift pack through the post worth £29, not bad for a simple text entry.

On the 26th April I received a lovely Instagram message from Little Dish, this was a competition they ran where you had to follow them, like their photo and then comment your favourite place you like to spend a day out with your family, my entry was picked as a winning entry and I won a Micro Trike and 3 months supply of fruity bites.

The 30th April brought 2 wins, one was a Twitter message from Your Home Magazine and I won myself a industrial-style wall clock courtesy of To Love and be loved! & a Facebook win from Green King pubs, I won myself 2 main meals at one of their restaurants which I’m going to use to treat the hubby, the small wins are definitely the best.

And that’s it for April, I’m going to focus all my efforts for May on trying to win myself some lovely things for my garden now the weather is starting to pick up, I’d love to win myself a rattan outdoor sofa set and would love to win a Little Tikes Fountain Factory water table for my little ones. Wish me luck. xx

March Competition Wins 2018

I didn’t write a blog post for February, I only had 2 wins for the month and I felt like it really wasn’t worth writing about so I’m going to include February’s wins in this blog post.

In February I received an email from Gransnet letting me know that I’d won one of their Twitter competitions and won a signed copy of the book Rise Up, Women!

February also brought another win and a winning email from Shout Magazine, I think this was an email entry and I won a set of new impulse body sprays which smell absolutely lovely, I’ve kept these for myself!

Cakepops 3

Also in February my LK Bennett handbag arrived which is just beautiful, this was an advent win from December and did take a bit of chasing. This was meant to be collected from London but I managed to get the prize posted out. I offered to pay for the postage, the promoter didn’t seem to mind and posted it out to me at no extra cost, it’s always worth asking the question rather than losing out on a prize.

Cakepops 4

March has been another quiet month for me, I really need to up my comping for April but don’t think I have much chance of that happening, we’ve got lots of birthdays coming up, my sisters wedding and it’s currently the Easter holidays but I will certainly try my best, wish me luck!

On the 5th March I received a lovely Instagram message from Epson UK letting me know I’d won a signed Manchester United shirt, I even got to choose which player I wanted to sign it. I’m still waiting for my prize to arrive and I’m so excited waiting for it.

My final win for March was another Instagram win, Instagram is my favorite social media platform at the moment for entering competitions. I received a lovely gift from Bluebirdbabygifts, I’ve won some lovely baby socks, I opted for girl socks because a friend of mine is having a little girl. When I first showed my two boys they got excited and thought I’d won sweet treats for them, they came in such lovely packaging and look like cake pops. I can’t wait to give them to her when little baby girl arrives.

Well that’s it for me, another month over, it’s time to get stuck into April and see what April brings.

Happy comping!
