We’ve had a busy week this week, making the most of our last full week together before the start of the new school term. I returned to work on Tuesday 29th August just for 2 days to catch up and to help cover some staff shortages, so it was kind of like being chucked in at the deep end. I think I did well despite the computer problems I had, I had to go a whole day without my Outlook which is kind of like losing your right arm. Returning back to work was such a shock to the system but was nice in a way having some independence back and not having to turn around every 5 minutes when one of your little ones shouts “mum”.
After 2 days of work I was glad to then have the rest of the week to recover, it’s made me appreciate the last few weeks that I’ve got of my maternity leave until I have to return back permanently, these last few weeks are going to be precious and I plan to make the most of them.
On Wednesday we all went over to my friend Payal’s house, she lives on the other side of Nottingham and it’s a good 20 minute drive from our house so we stayed for lunch and the best part of the afternoon, I took her some flowers, I always like to show my appreciation when someone takes the time to cook for us crazy lot! Whilst at Payal’s Alfie learnt to ride his bike, I can’t tell you what an amazing feeling it was to see him ride all by himself, he was so proud and I am such a proud mummy. He’s had his bike for 2 years now and we thought it was going to take quite some time for him to grasp it but it goes to show you that children are full of surprises.
On Wednesday evening we caught up with some of my friends from work and had a rare evening out at a charity psychic night hosted by medium Steve Rhino, all I can say is that he didn’t live up to my expectations! It was for charity and for a good cause so it doesn’t matter, we had a good evening and certainly one to be remembered!
The rest of the week was filled with bike rides, sleep overs, meals out and lots of Super Mario on the Nintendo 2DS, I think I’ve become addicted and have managed some how to complete the Super Mario Bros 2 game which the boys are happy about, just call me a mummy pro!
This week we’ve eaten out twice at our local Hungry Horse chain, they’ve been running a summer promotion giveaway where you can enter daily on their scratch card and win instant prizes, so far we’ve managed to bag 2 fifty percent off food vouchers which we’ve put to good use, free Coca Cola and multiple free Candy Mania sharer puddings. Thank you Hungry Horse.
I’m all up to date now with the school preparations, I’ve labelled multiple pairs of shoes, trainers and pumps, labelled multiple garments of school uniform, washed and ironed. Labelled multiple items of PE Kit, drink bottles and book bags, I think we’re all set now. Charlie starts in reception next week so it’s going to be an interesting week, I really hope he enjoys it and settles well. Alfie on the other hand is raring to go and is so excited to be starting at his new junior school, he’s left his infant school behind but taking all his lovely friends with him. I can’t wait to get into a routine again, I’m not a fan of the school runs but we do need some routine and order back in our lives again.
